West Haven Alcohol Compliance Check Results

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 4, 2025

On March 27, 2025, the West Haven Police Department and West Haven Prevention Council partnered with the Department of Consumer Protection Liquor Control Division to conduct undercover alcohol compliance checks at 23 West Haven liquor retailers. Trained volunteers work with law enforcement to attempt to purchase alcohol from local retailers and citations are issued for those who sell to minors.

Out of 23 West Haven liquor retailers that were visited, five were cited for illegally selling alcohol to someone under the age of 21, according to West Haven Police Department.

West Haven Prevention Council appreciates the cooperation of local establishments and the dedication of enforcement officials in ensuring responsible alcohol sales. It is crucial for all businesses to consistently check identification to prevent underage alcohol sales, as compliance checks are conducted periodically without prior notice.
